Dearest sisters and brothers, today we remember with love and respect the lives of Srebrenica\u2019s beloved fathers, brothers, sons, those who will never be forgotten. Your loss 25 years ago is our loss, the world\u2019s great loss, a crime against humanity beyond imagining.<\/span><\/p>\n I arrived not long after to meet and mourn with the mothers of Srebrenica, wives, sister and daughters of the disappeared. It was only then that I could begin to understand the magnitude of your horrendous loss. Over the past twenty years working with the International Commission on Missing Persons I\u2019ve been privileged to witness, love and admire my sisters of Srebrenica. For your courage, dedication, compassion and steadfastness in the face of immense pressures. In our work with you and others to ensure that the victims of Srebrenica are found and identified, together we have opened the way for the perpetrators to face justice. Our Commission\u2019s work has contributed to a long and thorough investigation that has made it possible to establish beyond any shadow of the doubt the facts about the genocide. <\/span><\/p>\n There are no moral grounds and there are no historical grounds for prevarication or denial. And in our meetings with the other grieving families across conflict lines you have lighted the way from the shadows of prejudices and hate to a more hopeful, promising and peaceful future for coming generations, inshallah. We have learned so much from you that is enabling us help others around the world suffering from the crime of enforced disappearance. In Syria, Iraq, Colombia and elsewhere families of the missing are finding in you an inspiration and courage. The holy Quran commends those who endure with fortitude, who in adversity say \u201cwe belong to God and to Him we shall return\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n The survivors of Srebrenica have endured the most painful adversity yet you hoop in steadfast. You\u2019ve been steadfast in faith, compassion and in dignity. Today we remember those who perished and we stand with those who survived. We stand with them for truth, for justice and for peace. Va\u0161 gubitak prije 25 godina i na\u0161 je gubitak, to je ogromni gubitak za cijeli svijet, zlo\u010din protiv \u010dovje\u010dnosti koji je te\u0161ko i zamisliti.<\/p>\n Nedugo poslije sam do\u0161la da se upoznam i oplakujem sa majkama Srebrenice, suprugama, sestrama i k\u0107erima nestalih. Tek tada sam mogla po\u010deti shvatati veli\u010dinu va\u0161e u\u017easne tragedije. U proteklih dvadeset godina rade\u0107i s Me\u0111unarodnom komisijom za nestale osobe imala sam privilegiju da svjedo\u010dim, volim i divim se svojim sestrama iz Srebrenice. Va\u0161oj hrabrosti, predanosti, suosje\u0107anju i nepokolebljivosti pred ogromnim pritiscima. U na\u0161em radu s vama i drugima na pronalasku i identifikaciji \u017ertava iz Srebrenice, zajedno smo otvorili put da se po\u010dinitelji suo\u010de sa pravdom. Rad na\u0161e Komisije doprinio je dugoj i detaljnoj istrazi koja je omogu\u0107ila izvan svake sumnje utvrditi \u010dinjenice o genocidu.<\/p>\n Ne postoje moralni razlozi i ne postoje istorijski razlozi za opravdavanje ili poricanje. I na na\u0161im susretima sa ostalim o\u017ealo\u0161\u0107enim porodicama na svim stranama sukoba, vidimo da se vi osvijetlili put od sjenki predrasuda i mr\u017enje prema nadi i mirnijoj budu\u0107nosti narednih generacija, inshallah. Od vas smo nau\u010dili mnogo i to nam omogu\u0107ava da pomognemo drugima \u0161irom svijeta koji su \u017ertve prisilnih nestanaka. U Siriji, Iraku, Kolumbiji i drugdje porodice nestalih u vama pronalaze inspiraciju i hrabrost. \u010casni Kur’an pozdravlja one koji su na ku\u0161nji, koji u nevolji ka\u017eu \u201epripadamo Bogu i njemu \u0107emo se vratiti\u201c.<\/p>\n Pre\u017eivjeli srebreni\u010dani pretrpjeli ste najte\u017eu nevolju, ali se \u010dvrsto dr\u017eite. Nepokolebljivi ste u vjeri, saosje\u0107anju i dostojanstvu. Danas se sje\u0107amo onih koji su nestali, a stojimo uz one koji su pre\u017eivjeli. Uz njih stojimo radi istine, pravde i mira.
