17 December 2013: The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today that the Czech Republic will continue to support the work of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) through June 2014.
H.E. Ambassador Tomas Szunyog made the announcement during a signing ceremony of the donation agreement with the ICMP Director General, Kathryne Bomberger, at the ICMP headquarters. The donation of 12,700 EUR will be used to support ICMP’s programs in the Western Balkans. The Czech Republic has donated 110,000 Euro to ICMP since 2008.
“ICMP is the only specialized international organization that addresses the issue of missing persons in all its facets through the use of scientific and law based mechanisms. In the context of the Western Balkans, it has assisted the countries in the region account for over 70% of the 40,000 persons who went missing during the armed conflicts of the 1990’s”, said H.E. Ambassador Tomas Szunyog. “We believe that assisting States in resolving missing persons cases, following hostilities, is critical to future peace and stability in the region,” he added.
“I would like to thank the Czech Republic and Ambassador Szunyog personally for the invaluable support they have provided to ICMP, both directly and through contributions via the European Union. The Czech support has greatly contributed to ICMP’s ability to assist the governments in the region to locate and identify this unprecedented number of missing persons“, said ICMP Director-General Kathryne Bomberger.
ICMP assists governments in accounting for missing persons from war, human rights abuses, disasters, human trafficking, organized crime and other causes. It has programs in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and it has helped countries in Southeast Asia and North America. ICMP is funded through voluntary grants, donations, and contributions from participating governments.[:bs]

Ambasador Češke Republike u Bosni i Hercegovini, Tomas Szunyog, danas je objavio da će Češka Republika nastaviti pružati podršku radu Međunarodne komisije za nestale osobe (ICMP) do juna 2014.
Nj.E. ambasador Tomas Szunyog je to izjavio tokom zaključivanja sporazuma o donaciji koji je danas u sjedištu ICMP-a potpisao sa generalnom direktoricom, Kathryne Bomberger. Donacija od 12.700 EUR biće upotrijebljena za rad ICMP-ovog programa na Zapadnom Balkanu. Od 2008. godine Češka Republika je ICMP-u donirala 110.000 EUR.
„ICMP je jedina specijalizirana međunarodna organizacija koja se bavi pitanjem nestalih u svim njegovim aspektima kroz upotrebu naučnih i pravnih mehanizama. U kontekstu Zapadnog Balkana je pomogao zemljama da pronađu preko 70% od 40.000 nestalih u oružanim sukobima 1990-ih godina“, rekao je Nj.E. ambasador Tomas Szunyog i dodao: „Vjerujemo da je pomoć ovim zemljama u rješavanju pitanja nestalih, nakon neprijateljstava, ključna za budući mir i stabilnost u regionu“.
„Želim se zahvaliti Češkoj Republici i lično ambasadoru Szunyogu na neprocjenjivoj podršci koju pružaju ICMP-u, kako direktno tako i kroz doprinose Europske unije. Podrška Češke je značajno doprinijela našoj spremnosti da pružimo pomoć vladama u regionu na lociranju i identificiranju velikog broja nestalih osoba“, izjavila je generalna direktorica ICMP-a, Kathryne Bomberger.
ICMP pomaže vladama u traženju osoba nestalih usljed ratova, kršenja ljudskih prava, katastrofa, trgovine ljudima, organiziranog nasilja i drugih uzroka. ICMP ima programe u Evropi, na Bliskom istoku, Africi, Latinskoj Americi a pomaže i zemljama Jugoistočne Azije i Sjeverne Amerike. ICMP se finansira preko dobrovoljnih grantova, donacija i priloga vlada-donatora.
